[ViVi 2022.04] Q&A with Naniwa Danshi's Michieda Shunsuke
ViVi magazine sat down with Michieda Shunsuke and posed him 23 questions from Naniwa Danshi's fans.
Q1: What’s your favorite sushi?
A: Octopus. And I like prawn tempura. I’m totally fine with conveyor belt sushi!
Q2: What’s your favorite onigiri filling?
A: Plum and tuna mayo.
Q3: Between short hair and long hair, which do you prefer?
A: The definition of short hair is different for guys and girls, right? For my current hair, can I say that it’s neither long nor short? Anything that I’m picky about when it comes to hair? Yeah, I’m very picky! Based on my current hair length, if you asked me whether I preferred short or long hair, I’d say long hair, I guess…
Q4: What sort of hairstyle would you like to try in the future?
A: I can’t change my hair freely due to my acting jobs. I do aspire to Kimura-san’s long hair. The one that he had during Long Vacation.
Q5: What’s your favorite look from ViVi’s March issue?
A: I like mature but casual coats like this. I guess it falls under the “pretty” genre? (shy)
Q6: Did you make any blunders recently?
A: Just yesterday. I don’t remember getting into bed, and before I knew it, it was already morning. (laughs) Usually I’d charge my smartphone before going to bed, but when I woke up, the battery was at 20%. I probably collapsed into bed and slept like a log.
Q7: What’s Micchi’s favorite food from the Michieda family dinners?
A: Karaage and braised burdock root.
Q8: What’s your secret in maintaining your smooth and flawless complexion?
A: Eh~! My skin is breaking out so badly right now! My skin gets rough easily, so I would wash my face with a cleanser and then apply face lotion, followed by a vitamin serum, then a hydrating cream. I heard that when milk lotions oxidize, it causes your skin to become dull easily, so recently I’ve not used it. And I eat tomatoes and drink vitamin supplements every day. I try my best to refrain from snacking! And also not to let my hair poke at my skin… Naniwa Danshi (with the exception of Kyohei) tends to be very conscious of beauty. Even without doing anything, Kyohei has such smooth and great skin, which makes me envious!
Q9: What’s something that made you very happy recently?
A: I wonder what it is… (looks up and around restlessly) Something that made me happy, right? Ah, I remember! (eyes sparkle suddenly) It was meeting the members after some time!
Q10: What’s your favorite dessert?
A: The cheese tart which I received as a gift was delicious! I like that a lot right now. ♡
Q11: Do you apply perfume? What sort of scent do you use?
A: I’ve been applying perfume since middle school. Of course I wouldn’t do it when I’m going to school, only for work! As for the reason why, it feels like I’m getting into the zone. I like floral scents.
Q12: What’s the lock screen for your smart phone?
A: I’ve not changed it since 5 to 6 years ago, I think? It’s a photo of “Saturn’s Chair” from Yamate Hachiban-kan in Hyogo prefecture… I heard that it grants your wishes. My wishes… have been granted. (laughs)

Q13: If you could switch places with a Naniwa member for a day, who would you want to be and what would you do?
A: Hmm…. (deliberates for 10 seconds) I wonder who it’d be? I’m often asked that question, and up till now, I’ve always said it was Jo-kun. However, recently… I wonder who it’d be? Okay, I choose Ryusei-kun then! Because his private life is a mystery. I want to know what he does in private.
Q14: When you turn 20, who do you want to go drinking with?
A: I have a question when it comes to myself: How will I act when I get drunk? Do I become more cheerful? Do I get sleepy? I can’t imagine it at all. My dad is someone who gets sleepy when he’s drunk, so I think I’ll inherit that from him… Are you asking whether any senpai have invited me out for drinks once I turn 20? No, no one has said that to me. (depressed)
Q15: Which YouTuber would you recommend?
A: Everyone is already watching “Jyanino Channel” which features my beloved Yamada-kun, so I’ll leave that aside. (laughs) If not (Jyanino), then I wonder who? (checks his smartphone) Ah, I love “Sushi Ramen Riku”! He does various stunts and his exchanges with his grandma are funny. Another one is “Puritto Channel”. They do verification challenges like, “We spent 24 hours in a camping car”, which are interesting. A collaboration with ViVi? Sounds good! But I can’t go that far to do stunts…

Q16: Do you have any dishes that you’re good at cooking?
A: I often cook stir-fried pork with bell peppers. I add oil to the pan, throw in some pork and bell peppers, pour in the yakiniku sauce and that’s it. (laughs)
Q17: What’s something that you want to accomplish before you turn 20?
A: Get my driver’s licence. I wonder if I can make it in time? I want to get my licence within a month after I’m done shooting Kindachi. Ah, is that possible? Fine then, it can wait until after I turn 20!
Q18: What’s something about you that hasn’t changed since you were a child?
A: My parents tell me that I’ve always spaced out ever since I was a child. I thought I was just being normal. Apparently I look like very carefree. According to my family, that hasn’t changed since I was a kid.
Q19: Which senpai do you want to grow closer to?
A: Sexy Zone’s Nakajima Kento-kun. He always looks out for me. Ever since I entered the agency, he’s the first senpai who said of me, “He’s good!” During last year’s Countdown rehearsal, Kento-kun suddenly came to me and said, “I watched 99.9 (the movie)! I think it’s difficult to cry there and then when you’re suddenly told to do so. Micchi’s acting was really good there.” Somehow I think I might fall in love with him. ♡
Q20: Are you still growing taller?
A: Every time I meet someone that I haven't seen in a while, they always ask me, "Have you grown taller?" But when I measured my height on Kieta Hatsukoi, I was 179cm! My height hasn't changed since my 3rd year in high school. My shoulders probably became broader, so it looked like I got bigger. I'm not 180cm. I still have to consider the balance with the other members, so I think I'm at the perfect height now.
Q21: May we always support you?
A: Surely you knew the answer when you asked that! I’m counting on you to do that now and forever!
Q22: What’s a profession that you’d like to try besides being an idol?
A: Recently I thought, a manager with J&A! I think they’re the unsung heroes and it seems interesting. Of course, they must be doing a lot of tough work that we don’t get to see, so including that, I’d get to know the entire picture of our work.
Q23: At what age did you grow the fastest? How does one grow so tall?
A: I grew the most from my 3rd year of middle school to high school. When I was a 3rd year in middle school, I was 167cm. In the spring of my 2nd year in high school, I became 177cm? I don’t remember it that well, but at that time, I switched from being “normal” to “a tall guy”. (laughs) According to my mom, I drank a liter of milk a day when I was in elementary school. I also slept a lot. However, my dad is also 180cm, so I think it’s genetics.
