Non-no Feb 2013: Q & A with Arashi! 2008 --> 2012! [1/2]
Gah, why are these guys so adorable? Read on as Arashi members cringe in embarrassment over their past interviews on romance, and check out which member was nominated as the most popular marriage partner!

Here’s our customary Q&A corner which has received rave reviews. With respect to their answers on love in 2008, Arashi makes wisecracks and reveals their true opinions in 2012!
In 2008…
Question: Please state the 3 things you look for in a girl!
Ohno: Someone who’s gentle, has the same hobbies that I do… The most important thing is that we need to see each other as equals.
Jun: Someone who’s smarter than I am, who can read the situation, and a genuine person would be ideal.
Aiba: Someone who talks to me about everything. Who shares the same values as I do and has good psychomotor skills.
Sho: Someone who smiles a lot and is kind. That’s more than enough for me.
Nino: Someone who’s female, and speaks Japanese. If she has an innocent air, that’d be awesome.
In 2012…
Sho: My answer felt like something I managed to squeeze out after trying really hard. (laughs) Isn’t it the same for Satoshi-kun and Nino’s answers?
Nino: That’s right. I think I really thought hard about it. Ultimately, if she sees me as a man, that’s more than enough for me.
Ohno: Now, I don’t even need these 3 things.
Sho: Same here. Everyone’s become more tolerant… Or rather, we’ve come to look at things in the long term, perhaps? (laughs)Ohno: How about Aiba-chan’s “psychomotor skills”?
Nino: And the silly jokes you were addicted to at that time? (huge grin)
Aiba: … I can’t remember. (laughs) It’s a mystery, even for me!
Sho: Matsujun said, “Someone who’s smarter than I am.” Maybe he actually has a masochistic temperament!? (laughs)
In 2008...
Question: What would be your ideal date?
Ohno: Fishing! (immediate response) We’d get to bathe in the atmosphere of the sea.
Jun: A trip to outer space. Since no one else would be there. (laughs)
Aiba: An invigorating time spent having a blast at a baseball match or playing golf.
Sho: I like to travel, so it’d be nice if we could go together.
Nino: I’ll leave the decisions up to her!
In 2012...
Ohno: Me too. But since I had just started fishing in 2008, I was more passionate about it then.
Sho: The plan you should pay attention to is Matsujun’s. You can’t kiss in outer space, are you alright with that? (laughs)
Nino: I mean, you’d be wearing helmets, right?
Jun: … Can’t I try REALLY hard and hold my breath? (laughs)
Aiba: Make one wrong move and you might just die!
Jun: How about a kiss where I put my life on the line? (laughs)
Nino: That certainly is a passionate kiss. (laughs)
Sho: Actually, regular dates like going shopping or catching a movie might be the ideal kind.
In 2008…
Question: When it comes to love, what’s your selling point which can’t be defeated by the other members?
Ohno: I can fish! I can cook! And I’ll draw for her. (laughs)
Jun: I’ve never really made a comparison… Maybe it’s the fact that I’ll let her depend on me the most?
Aiba: I’ll tell her about my favorite hangouts and activities, and we’ll have a blast together!
Sho: This is tough… I might be able to bring her around to various places.
Nino: For a girl without hobbies, I’d introduce her to the thrilling activity that is gaming!
In 2012…
Ohno: My answer was simply to highlight the differences between myself and the other members.
Sho: But it’s wonderful to be able to draw! Nino’s gaming suggestion is also very charming. Perhaps Matsujun is masochistic after all!? (laughs) I’m also interested in what Aiba-kun would do, since he mentioned that he values good psychomotor skills. (laughs)
In 2008…
Question: If you were a girl, which member would you (1) date, (2) marry?
Ohno: For (1), it would be Matsujun. For (2), it’d be Nino since it looks like we can just chill out at home.
Jun: Of course it’d be me for both choices! My plus points? Everything! (laughs)
Aiba: For (1), it’s Sho-chan. As for marriage… I’ll place my bets on Leader! (laughs)
Sho: For (1), it’d be Aiba-kun. And Leader for (2), I’m eyeing the royalties earned from his artwork. (laughs)
Nino: I’d never want to date or marry any member. We know each other too well, so it’s no fun at all.
In 2012…
Nino: That’s true. We’re fellow guys, fellow members, of course we wouldn’t be thinking of dating or marrying each other! (laughs)
Aiba: The result being, Leader’s the most popular when it comes to being a marriage partner; Sho-chan and I have mutual feelings for each other… That being said, if I thought about it seriously, it does creep me out. (laughs)
In 2008…
Question: If Arashi were to have a group date, who would be the most popular?
Ohno: Somehow or other… wouldn’t it be Matsujun or Nino?
Jun: Leader, I guess. Even if a girl met him for the first time, it seems easy to talk to him.
Aiba: I would love to say it’s me (laughs), but I’ll go with Matsujun.
Sho: Matsujun. Well, of course I’d be popular too! (laughs)
Nino: Jun-kun, I guess. He seems to be the one who’s the gentlest with girls.
In 2012…
Nino: Was Aiba-san’s “I would love to say that it’s me” part of a gag?
Aiba: Of course it was a gag. (laughs) As with Sho-chan’s comment.
Sho: (serious look) Ah, I was being serious. The [laugh] was unnecessary!Jun: That being said, if every member weren’t popular, it spells trouble. We are Arashi, after all. (laughs)
