[2011.05.20] Sakurai Sho: Otonoha Vol. 81: Khorosho!
Many years ago, I translated Sho's J-Web entry, Otonoha Vol 96. The man has a gift with words and an excellent sense of humor, so I hope he blogs more regularly when he's older and has more time to himself.
A friend directed me to the entry below, where Sho talked about his vacation in Russia and his encounter with a Russian fan. It's hilarious reading this in hindsight, after watching all the spartan vacations he takes.
I present to you... Otonoha Vol. 81.

Khorosho!
[T/N: It’s the Russian word for “Great!” or “Alright!”]
Hello.
It’s me.
The other day, I suddenly received some time off…
And I went to Russia.
…huh?
Well.
For real.
I decided it at the last minute, 5 days before the trip.
Contacted a friend who was staying in Russia.
Made a reservation with the tour guide, everything was going as planned.
Bought more than 5 guide books and got down to doing my research.
But, you know…
I would usually cram all the information into my head.
However, because my friend over there is attending to me, the information isn’t really going in.
It’s sort of like an open book exam.
Rather than a vacation, it felt like a training camp. The trip was a pretty Spartan one. (<-- Main culprit: Me)
Boy, did we have a fulfilling time!
The most memorable part of the trip was at the home of a friend’s girlfriend, where we were treated to authentic Russian cuisine by her grandma. m(_ _)m
Well, now.
One day.
I had a chance to meet a Russian friend of a friend who was very into Japan.
According to my friend, that Russian lady very much wanted to speak to me*.
[T/N: Sho literally uses the term, “my humble self”.]
It was a rare opportunity, so I met her and spoke to her.
Sho: Which Japanese celebrity do you like?
Russian friend: Umm… At first, I liked Arashi’s…
Sho: Arashi’s…!?!?!?
Russian friend: Matsujun.
Sho: ( ̄▽ ̄)
Japanese friend: And now? Who do you like now?? (whispers) It’s Sho.
Sho: And recently? Who do you often watch?
Russian friend: Gackt-san.
\(~δ~)/
Yay~
A storm of incorrect information!!!
And beside all this.
In the home video that I was filming, my friend’s girlfriend took the liberty of adding her own message.
Girlfriend: Satoshi! Satoshi!
(≧▽≦)/
Sakurai, caught in a random onslaught of being ignored by others!
Truly, it feels good!
Or rather.
Enough of me.
I’m truly glad that she knew of Arashi. (<-- sour grapes)
That’s the way it is.
It was a bullet train tour, but…
A very fulfilling time off. [T/N: The Japanese phrase reads: Jujitsu no Kyujitsu]
(Oh. I made a rhyme.)
Spasibo!!!
[T/N: That’s the Russian word for “Thank you”.]

This post is dedicated to Uri and Kyra, between the two of them I have 95% of my Arashi fandom material down pat. Also, I know zero Russian, all the phrases there are courtesy of Google Translate. Native Russian speakers, kindly correct me if I'm butchering your language.

Sho should be a writer. He has a great skill at writing. I always enjoy his blog, really personal and he can explain or describe it really well. Hoping he will write a novel or a book in the future

It's really nice if your boyfriend is arashi's close friend. I mean it was pretty much a very private fangirling session.

I've read Otonoha in bits and pieces but now that I'm hooked, I'm trying to get my hands on every article there is.
Have a great day!

Poor Sho! *pats him*
Sometimes, Arashimembers often have the "luck" to encounter fans of those they aren't the ichibans, ne? Reminds me on Nino while doing Nippon Chousa when he came into that flower shop and the women freaked out and he asked one of them who's her favorite, she was like "Ohno-san" *all shy* and he turned around faking he would leave lol XD
