Hey Say Jump sheds some light on what went behind the scenes of this year's Waku Waku Gakkou and their thoughts on their senpai, Arashi.

I saw this at Waku Waku Gakkou! What’s amazing about Arashi
About Aiba Masaki
Yuto: Aiba-kun is an honest and serious person. Every time we have a rehearsal, he memorizes the script and does proper checks. In spite of that, he creates comedic episodes which are wonderful. I felt that the niceness of his personality really came through.
Arioka: It’s as if what you see on TV with Aiba-kun is what you get. It’s amazing how he nails all the funny parts. We’re both Chiba natives, so I hope to talk about various things with him.
About Matsumoto Jun
Yaotome: He has strong leadership qualities and is amazingly particular about stage direction. He’d come to our dressing room, asking questions like “Was there any part of the show which was difficult for you?” His consideration for others was amazing.
Takaki: Since it was our first time (at Waku Waku Gakkou), Arashi held a rehearsal for us the night before the event, and furthermore, Matsumoto-kun planned the session with each of us in mind. I had a lot to learn from him.
About Ninomiya Kazunari
Yamada: If someone had talked about what I was like behind the scenes, I’d be really embarrassed. However, Ninomiya-kun is similar to Matsumoto-kun. He watches out for the environment and people around him a lot, and he’s someone who’s able to clearly state his view. I think he’s the shadow leader in Arashi.
Yabu: During the show, he’d tell me stuff like, “Go for it, seriously go for it!” without using his microphone. He really does watch out for everyone, or rather, his consideration towards us made me very happy.
About Sakurai Sho
Yamada: He often watches out for the environment and people around him. He’d analyze each of our roles for us, and talk to us about it when we went out for meals. It was a great learning experience.
Yuto: Sakurai-kun would memorize the entire routine, and he’s a great emcee. When the members of Arashi are talking, he’d plan carefully who should make a wisecrack and who should mess up. It was a great learning experience.
About Ohno Satoshi
Yabu: I think everyone felt the same way, Ohno wasn’t just great at the tea ceremony, his calligraphy on the wall scroll was so good, it made me think that he’s really artistic.
Chinen: Ohno-kun is so cute when he’s in a sitting position! He might be sitting regularly, but his quiet and small sitting posture was so cute, I kept staring at it. (laughs)
I saw this at Waku Waku Gakkou! A mischievous <3 Arashi
About Aiba Masaki
Yabu: He was super fast at pounding mochi, it was the first time I’d seen someone so agile! In addition, I have no idea why, but he started to call Hikaru “Tome-san, Tome-san” halfway through the show. (laughs)
Inoo: During the rehearsal for rice planting, Aiba-kun was about to enter the rice paddy field. When he realized that he wasn’t supposed to, he hid his embarrassment by patting me on the head, which made me excited.
About Matsumoto Jun
Chinen: During the Bon Odori (traditional dance during the Obon festival), he was smiling brightly and seemed to enjoy himself immensely. Although he looked really cool in a yukata, there seemed to be a gap where he exhibited a cute yet cool side of himself, which seemed mischievous somewhat.
Inoo: After I had appeared in VS Arashi, he kept with the trend and calls me “Iio”, but recently he started calling me “Zun”. When I was sleeping in the dressing room, he’d say, “Hey, Zun, wake up!” (laughs) I’m thankful to be teased like that!
About Ninomiya Kazunari
Arioka: During Aiba-kun’s lesson, he was scribbling furiously in his notebook. When he turned back and showed me what he wrote, it was the kanji for “Arioka Daiki (有岡大貴)”. He said, “The kanji for Dai (大) is really tough.” (laughs)
T/N: The Kanji for Dai is the simplest character in Daiki’s name so I’m assuming that Nino is just messing with his kouhai.
Yaotome: The day after Aiba-kun and I talked about martial arts, Ninomiya-kun came up to me and said, “Whoosh~” as he threw me a slow punch. “Hey, show me the martial arts move you were talking about yesterday,” he said. Apparently he overheard our conversation. (laughs)
About Sakurai Sho
Chinen: The way he strikes a balance by fully getting into character and says ridiculous things is amazing. He was pretty into his impression of Takada Nobuhiko, “Come on out!”
Inoo: When Sakurai-kun and I were planting rice, he tried to make me fall, but he held himself back. (laughs) He held onto me when I was about to fall, so it feels like I might fall for him.
About Ohno Satoshi
Arioka: During our dinner party, he came over to our table to talk to us. It was my first time seeing such a talkative Ohno-kun. (laughs) He diligently answered our questions regarding Arashi’s 10th and 15th anniversaries.
Yuto: Ohno is always gentle and a little airheaded, and Arashi as a group has a great balance. But Ohno’s presence alone is sufficient. He’s a charming person.
Something that only I would know!? The real face of Arashi, behind the scenes
About Aiba Masaki
Yamada: Although he’s shy around strangers, I was happy when he excitedly said to me over a meal, “Yama-chan, how’re you doing?” I thought, “What a kind senpai he is.”
Takaki: When we were racing against each other during the rice planting, he went all out and frolicked around, and didn’t seem to mind that I was about to push him into the mud. Whenever I look at Aiba-kun, I’d think, “So this is what it’s like to be loved by people.”
About Matsumoto Jun
Yamada: After we all went for a meal together, I received a mail from Matsumoto-kun which said, “Wanna talk some more?” It made me happy to think that he wanted to speak with me for a while longer.
Okamoto: He has an incredibly mischievous smile when he’s teasing Ino-chan. I’ve played with him when I was a kid, but he actually remembered it and talked about those days with me, which made me happy.
T/N: Keito’s father, Okamoto Kenichi, starred with Arashi in the 2004 Pikanchi movie. Keito would have been 11 years old then, so I assume that’s when he got to know the Arashi members.
About Ninomiya Kazunari
Yamada: When it was first decided that we would host Itadaki High Jump*, he sent me a text which said, “You guys did it! You gotta treat me to a meal next time.” I replied, “I’m not going to treat you,” but I thought, what a cute senpai.
T/N: It was announced that Hey Say Jump would host their own regular show in July 2015.
Okamoto: We talked about it once during the emcee segment, but I was surprised at how his own wardrobe comprised almost entirely of clothes gifted to him by others. (laughs) I remember eating pizza with him when I was in elementary school, but it’s amazing how we’re able to work together like this now.
About Sakurai Sho
Yaotome: During our meal, we kept talking and he gave advice on how a nine-person group like JUMP could function during a talk. Apparently he watched Hirunandesu as well, so I was surprised when he said, “I do watch your shows, you know.”
Takaki: When we had our dinner party, Sakurai-kun’s seat was far away so I didn’t speak to him much. However, Sakurai-kun diligently answered the many questions that JUMP posed him, which made me happy.
About Ohno Satoshi
Inoo: During the last part of the show, Arashi would ask JUMP on our thoughts (about Waku Gaku), but Ohno-kun didn’t ask me at all. When we talked about it during the dinner party, he laughed so hard. (laughs)
Chinen: I enjoyed myself immensely when he talked to me during the dinner party. In addition, Ohno-kun sends me a birthday text every year. It makes me happy to know that he didn’t forget my birthday!
