Hi folks! Hope you all are doing fine despite the many things going on in the world right now. I've been mostly active on Twitter and posting less on LJ, so I thought I would update all you LJ-only folks on where you can find my translations or engage in some Arashi discussions.

You can follow me on Twitter to catch my live translations/recaps of Arashi's shows, usually as they happen in real time. I do tweet about other Japanese shows such as TOKIO Kakeru, or Sato Takeru's YouTube channel and the like. Public Twitter accounts are viewable on your web browser, so if you don't feel like following or setting up a Twitter account, just bookmark it and read the posts at your convenience.

Arashians Discord is basically a forum/server for Arashians to hang out and have fun. It reminds me of LJ in the old days, except that information flows at 10 times the speed of LJ and they have fancy Arashi emojis that you can use in your chat. It takes a while to get used to, but the people there are really nice and there's a little something for everybody. There's also a Voyage channel to discuss spoilers if you don't want to broadcast your thoughts on the show to people who haven't seen it.

And... that's about it, I think?

I don't think I will be actively subbing much these days, though I may consider cross-posting some of my longer Twitter translations over to the LJ comm. If you have any thoughts/comments about that, please do let me know.

Until them, take good care and let's have fun with Arashi all the way till December 31st, 2020.

Dear members,

I've had a few people asking me about membership applications and future projects, so I thought I'd gather feedback from you. I understand that it might be hard for you to comment because of the IP logging which prevents you from being completely anonymous, so this is what we have done.

I've started up a Comment Thread on

arashi_konkrit here. The IP logging is turned off, so for people who have negative feedback, please feel free to express your opinion in a constructive manner. Guidelines have been given on how to write the feedback in this post.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could comment on the following issues:

- Subs quality: translation, timing, typesetting
- Article translations
- Membership applications
- Any areas for improvement

In an unprecedented move by Japanese national idols Arashi, videos of their latest Tokyo Dome concert were posted online onto a Facebook group website "iL0v3AraShI". Industry experts, fans and JE staff were flabbergasted; why would Arashi blatantly violate anti-piracy laws, especially when the music industry was already reporting losses in Japan?

What this means for you and me

I am not sure about how you feel as you're reading this, but as a fan who wants sources to stay viable for as long as possible, I am very much turned off by this childish and ignorant behavior. This is also why translators and subbers hardly move to Tumblr or Facebook, rules are almost never respected in those social media, it's all too easy and tempting to break them without suffering from any consequences.

As I've mentioned in a previous post, actions by a few ignorant fans can really harm the fandom. In this case, the Weibo user who shared her Popcorn video is no longer going to upload anymore videos, and I have started to keep selected translations locked.

In a show of fandom solidarity, I am going to do the following:

- Delete links to existing videos here at Transitions101
- Close the community indefinitely to future applicants

What you can do as a fan

- Ask the moderators of iL0v3AraShI to take down material which they have not posted with permission or properly credited.
- Report this group to Facebook. Click HERE to find out how.

Unless fandom as a whole takes a stand against certain outrageous behaviors, I don't see how I want to be a part of this anymore. It's been a horrid week for the world in general with shootings, earthquakes and bombings, the last thing I need to come home to is to find that 2 or 4 teenage girls can't be bothered to keep proper internet etiquette.

The Why:

This community is really a dumping ground for my subbed videos and translations that will come your way. The mods have tried to make joining as hassle free as possible, so please do not break the rules and endanger the community in the process.

Please note that this community only accepts users with Livejournal accounts.

The How:

Joining the community is really simple:

1. In order to Join, you must comment in this entry. We will assume that you've read the rules HERE and that by commenting you understand and will abide by them. We don't want empty promises, what we're doing takes time so please understand that do not reupload, stream, sell, claim as your own, repost the links or alter translations or subs here in any way. Anyone found abusing this, will be banned from the community

2. In the Subject of your comment, write "Carnival Night". Then answer the question: If a member of Arashi were to be the Aniki on Arashi ni Shiyagare, which one would you like it to be, and what would you like them to teach?

3. Wait for the moderator to send you an LJ invite.

Please check your LJ invitation page at least once a week and accept the invitation before it expires in 30 days.

4. Please note that the moderators are able to reject applications at their own discretion, but we should be able to approve almost everyone.

If you're initially rejected, that means you didn't follow one of the rules above. Please do not begin PM-ing mods for the reasons. Re-read the rules to find what you missed, then re-comment and wait for the LJ invite again. Thank you.

Regarding the subbed videos:

Do not post the videos to online streaming sites.
Do not make money off the videos.
Do not repost the video links outside of the community.
Do not reupload the videos to other sites.
We do not allow retranslation of our subs into other languages as nuances in the language are lost with each translation we make. Also, we would like to keep the subs within the community.

Regarding the translations:

Please do not repost translations without permission. You may quote from parts of them in your personal LJ, but please remember to state the source.
Please do not repost any part of any translation in any community.
Do not translate into other languages.
Please PM me should you like to use the translations in any way.
