The people at TV Guide compiled 150 Arashi trends over the past 15 years.

15 years ago, Arashi debuted with their single, “A.RA.SHI” on 3 November 1999. To celebrate the entry into their 15th anniversary year, we’ve compiled 15 years’ worth of 150 Arashi trends! From nostalgic fads to persisting preferences, we bring to you the people, things and items that Arashi is obsessed with.

Trend #1: Nino and Leader were play-sword fighting during the summer concert rehearsals

With Aiba-chan as our witness! “They were using some pole-like object for sword fighting, frolicking and laughing their guts out as they did so. (chuckles)”

Trend #2: Having a meal at Aiba’s family restaurant before our summer concert rehearsals!

“We all received the Chinese restaurant T-shirts. I got the red one,” said Leader. In response to that, Nino happily replied, “I got the blue one. Sho’s got white and Jun-kun has the orange. Aiba-chan got the black. We did our rehearsals in the 5 colored shirts, didn’t we? ‘We’re Arashi~’ we would say.”

Trend #3: If Sho-kun strips, so does Aiba-chan!?

“When Sho-chan says, ‘It’s so hot!’ and takes off his top, I also go, ‘It’s so hot!’ and take my top off too,” comments Aiba. Leader’s response: “I don’t get it.”

Trend #4: Somehow, we end up showering together after a concert.

“Even though there are 5 showers, we end up going into the same shower [with another member],” says Aiba. “That’s just you, isn’t it!?” retorts Sho with a stunned look.

Trend #5: They bring drinks as souvenirs for the other members’ stage plays.

For Aiba-chan’s stage play, “Kimi to Miru Sen no Yume”, Sho-kun brought fruit juice. Oh-chan brought wine. “It was delicious,” said Aiba-chan.

Trend #6: We tend to go to the same stores.

Aiba-chan and Sho-kun tend to go to the same restaurants. “It’s amazing how we actually went to the same place at the same time,” said a shocked Aiba.

Trend #7: We want to eat curry in the summer.

“We had soba in summer last year, but Aiba-san often said, ‘Let’s eat curry while sweating it out,’” said Sho. Aiba-chan replied, “It’s not limited to summer, I like eating it throughout the entire year.”

Trend #8: Aiba-chan, Nino and Sho-kun get a lot of lines (in their songs).

Nino talks about the allocation of singing parts. “If we did a medley of our singles during a concert for about 10 minutes, the 3 of us would virtually be singing the entire time.”

Trend #9: The wrapping up party with the staff on the last concert day is a must-have.

Arashi loves their concerts. “It moves us to realize once again, just how many people are involved in this production and created it for us,” said a grateful Arashi.

Trend #10: It’s an Arashi rule for Oh-chan to treat the members when they eat at a ramen place.

Aiba-chan speaks about a recent episode where the members treated each other. “Somehow, it was decided that Leader would be the one to pay whenever we went to a ramen place.”
